The Hype House Tragedy

Written by Staff Writer Prisha Puntambekar

March 28 marked a somber day for America’s army of TikTok obsessed fourteen-year-old girls. Daisy Keech, the co-founder of The Hype House, declared that she had split from the house of content creators.

The Hype House, a content-creator house similar to Team 10, included 20 members. Some of the most popular stars consisted of Charli D’amelio, Addison Easterling, and Chase Hudson. All members of the house created videos on TikTok for their large fanbases.

Keech’s fans were broken-hearted at the news of her departure, for they never expected the relationship between Keech and other Hype House members to suffer. Keech’s split was especially surprising because content-creation houses rarely experience dramatic fallouts. Members of the house spoke well of their relationships, saying in an interview, “Nothing makes our friendships more authentic than a large social media platform in LA.”

Fans had hoped that the members, who are mostly teenagers, would be more capable of reasonable decision-making and compromises.

The news of Keech’s separation personally affected many, as the work of The Hype House stars touched lives and made impacts internationally. The affair even touched celebrities, who have begun making statements on the situation. Megan Pete, popularly known as Megan Thee Stallion, stated that Keech’s behavior was, “classy, bougie, and ratchet.”

Keech’s issues with The Hype House centered around the manipulation she received from Thomas Petrou, fellow TikTok star. Keech and Petrou were close friends, as the two knew each other years before forming The Hype House. Keech expected Petrou to treat her well in the trademark they ran together, as she was aware that doing business with loved ones ends well. Sadly, Petrou allegedly mistreated Keech in a variety of ways; he disrespected her boundaries through reckless actions, such as stealing her contour to save his long-lost cheekbones.

Fortunately, Keech gained insight from her devastating  experiences with The Hype House. After falling victim to the problems that arose in a house of content creators, she wisely decided to move on in her life. Keech founded The Clubhouse: a content-creator house which differs significantly from The Hype House. As Keech’s intelligent leadership has shown, her new  content-creator house is bound to thrive in a drama-free environment.

The Clubhouse’s videos currently consist of extraordinary TikToks, which display the exclusive talent of lip syncing in a multi-million dollar mansion. Fans look forward to the wholesome, untheatrical entertainment that the new content-house is yet to produce.
