El Niño envelops PAC

Recent weather forecasts predicted an El Niño for Californians. For those who don’t speak meteorologist, there will be increased amounts of rain in the next few months.

As a result of the rain, frequent flash floods will occur throughout the winter season and phones will continue to go off in the classroom with emergency alerts.

Two weeks ago, the performing arts center, PAC, flooded and the orchestra pit was filled with approximately three inches of rainwater. Consequently, MC’s annual Mr. Sundevil competition was pushed back a week to Thursday Jan. 14.

Thanks to MC’s exceptional custodial staff, the flooded orchestra pit was taken care of and the auditions for the Theatre at the Mount’s musical Les Miserables, continued as planned. Without such an efficient custodial staff, MC wouldn’t be as clean and well-maintained.

Although the recent weeks have been  quite dry, the coming months should bring an even greater supply of rain and bring California out of a drought. The phrase sunny San Diego may not apply as well in the coming weeks.
