MC Goes Viral

by Roxy Hudson January 3, 2022, 8:13 am

From liking friends’ posts to participating in online polls, the digital age is one centered around the mass use of social media. Instagram, in particular, has taken the world by storm and has even caught the attention of the MC community and their comedic observations around campus. In an attempt to attract some fame, bring a laugh to the student body, or possibly find an excuse to avoid studying for that math test just around the corner, many students, who remain anonymous, have taken to the internet to expose the laughable character they have found at MC.

Within the last few weeks, the MC student body has initiated an online revolution. Inspired by the many TikTok trends of American high schoolers creating ridiculous instagram accounts for their school, MC has recently produced a wide range of Sundevil-oriented accounts. The first of the bunch being MC’s bad student parking (@mchs_badstudentparking). Whether aimed at embarrassing friends or enforcing a change to the rules of the road, students are encouraged by the account, run by an anonymous Sundevil, to send in their photos of bad parking jobs by their classmates. A wide variety of crooked finishes and over-the-line mistakes in more ways than one, have left cars with Sundevil stickers internet famous.

In the theme of calling out students for their sloppy morning mistakes, another Sundevil created MC’s worst outfits account. While the initial idea seems slightly hateful, the execution is with playful intent. This anonymous account highlights the funny fashion errors within MC. Once again produced by student submission, @mchs.worstfits posts outfit photos of students sent in by their peers. Pictures of Sundevils in their cozy pajamas and unique halloween costumes are featured on the account, bringing attention to the true fashion seen at MC.

In addition to less-than-perfect outfit choices, the late nights and early mornings that come with being a high school student also produce a multitude of sleepy Sundevils. For this reason, @mchs_sleepers2022 decided to highlight the many impromptu nap times that take place on campus. Students submit pictures of their classmates deep in their slumber for the Instagram account to expose to its curious followers. Whether snoozing after finishing a test or sleeping during an important lesson, most of the individuals going night-night during the day-day will find themselves featured on instagram with their eyes closed.

Oftentimes, napping students manage to uncover comfortable-feeling but uncomfortable-looking positions while getting their much needed rest. Seeing students in such twisted positions while asleep made some individuals notice the awkward stances of those awake. @mchs_bad.posture made sure to pounce on these opportunities and post about the bad postures seen around campus. Regardless of grade level, Sundevils crouched over their homework and slouched in their desks will likely see their contorted selves featured on MC’s bad posture Instagram account in the near future.

With all these roaming social media accounts and likely more to arise, it is important to stay alert at all times. Make sure to wear the fanciest possible pajamas, sit up straight, and park in the lines to avoid being the next Sundevil exposed by one of these anonymous accounts.

Through their silly captions and playful posts, it is clear that these mentioned accounts were made with good hearted intent. The Sundevil family is one oriented around positivity and good spirit, and anything created with a harmful or negative objective is a disruption and a disappointment to the Sundevil Way that the MC community so regularly enforces. Connections can be made through social media but they can also be broken. Please remember to be mindful on such platforms and consider the feelings of those who may be affected by these actions taken to ensure MC maintains its kind reputation.
