What sports do you do?

I do both cross country and track.

 

How long have you been on varsity?

I’ve been a varsity athlete since my freshman year of cross country.

 

When did you start running competitively?

I started running competitively in seventh grade. I just ran P.E. and I liked it. My dad urged me to go out and I did.

 

What are some differences in your lifestyle between offseason and during season?

Offseason is really different because I’m not running at all so I get super lazy and I kind of gain a couple of pounds. During season I just try to maintain a healthy diet and it usually works itself out.

 

Would you describe cross country as a team sport or an individual sport?

It’s both. You have to run the best that you can for yourself and you also have a team that you need to run for.

 

What’s a difference between cross country and other sports?

Running is really mentally tough.

 

What do you like best about running and cross country?

I like how there’s a lot of competition and lot’s of camaraderie and people want to beat each other but it’s fun to race, to do your best and race.

 

What sports have you played before?

I played baseball, basketball, and soccer for a long time. I played soccer until eighth grade, but I had to stop so I could focus on running.

 

What are your hobbies outside of school and running?

I like to surf, I really like movies. Also snowboarding.

 

What are some of your most memorable experiences from distance running?

Making it to the state meet in track my junior year and making it to the cross country state meet my freshman and sophomore year.

 

How would you say that cross country has made a difference in your life?

It’s made me a harder worker because I work really hard at running so I try to work just as hard as that in other aspects of my life like school and other things.

 

Do you see cross country in your future?

Yeah. I want to try and run in college. Right now I’m looking at Calpoly, BYU, and also the University of Nebraska.

 

What would you say is the best thing about MC?

All the people that I have met.

 

What are you favorite memories of MC, these past four years?

Hanging out with people, having fun. Being a high schooler, it’s fun.
