Halloween favorites

This is my seventeenth year of Halloween on this Earth and it is by far my absolute favorite holiday. I love the spookiness, the candy, and the vibe that Halloween brings. It is the time of superstition and celebration.

Originating in the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints and martyrs. Thus known as the holiday, All Saints’ Day and the evening before was known as All Hallows’ Eve and later Halloween. Over time, this holiday became more commercial and well known.

Today you can see little kids dressed up as Superman and Disney princesses going door to door for candy to celebrate Halloween. While some people my age feel like they have outgrown trick-or-treating, they settle for a party instead. But if you are one of the few teenagers that still does trick-or-treat, 4S Ranch and Rancho Bernardo have some of the best neighborhoods for full size candy bars.

While Sabre Springs definitely has the best homemade haunted Houses, they also have awesome Halloween decorations and is a prime candy stop. To fully enjoy all the perks of Halloween the movies celebrating the holiday definitely set the stage.

Enjoy the fun movies like Halloween Town or classics like The Nightmare Before Christmas. Or go for a scary flick like Nightmare on Elm Street or Paranormal Activity.

Or if you are in for a real scare check out the Haunted Trails and Knotts Scary Farm, San Diego’s Halloween treats. Whatever your plans are for Halloween, I hope that it is spooktastic!halloween-events-san-diego-top
