The final boys’ water polo game against Scripps high school was a loss for Mount Carmel. A final score of thirteen to twelve, it was an extremely close game.

“We had a very rough start being down nine to one by the end of the first quarter. But we quickly recovered and ended up just barely losing,” senior Parker Burt said.

From the second half on, it was a close game for MC. “Our perseverance brought us close to winning,” senior Vishal Bobba said. “The effect of our determination was most clear in the last quarter, during which we scored five goals and only let in one, bringing us up to thirteen to twelve from twelve to seven.”

This has been a considerably strong season for boys’ water polo with wins as well as losses. “Scripps has been the top of our division, so we knew that they would be a difficult opponent. Our near success is due to the face that even though we started off poorly, we did not give up on ourselves or each other,” Burt said.

Recovering from the first half, MC really pulled it together and scored twelve more goals throughout the rest of the game.

“Overall the game was beneficial to our team because it showed us what we are capable of. We look forward to playing them again and performing throughout the whole game like we did in the last practice of this game,” Bobba said.
