Rumors of a royal wedding have been spreading, but only recently have they been confirmed. The United Kingdom’s Prince Harry announced his engagement to American actress, Meghan Markle on November 27, 2017. The Clarence House of London has confirmed that the wedding will take place next year during the spring. With this in mind, the whole world watches, as Princess Diana’s youngest, gets married to a biracial, divorced woman. Welcome to the modern age of royal families.

The soon to be member of the royal family has also encountered backlash from the press describing her as a girl ‘from the hood’ and other discriminating remarks. The harassment reached a point that Prince Harry himself, had to issue a statement regarding the abuse.

By marrying  Prince Harry, it is improbable to say Markle will get the title ‘princess’. Like another member of the royal family, Kate Middleton, she will most likely go by ‘Duchess’. Markle will be the first Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry as the Duke of Sussex. Previous, Dukes of Sussex had marriages which were considered as unlawful, making Markle the first official Duchess of Sussex.

After starring in Suites and Remember Me, plus countless other films, Markle plans on retiring after the wedding. Joining her future husband, she will continue doing humanitarian work. She also plans on becoming a UK citizen, and living in a cottage with Prince Harry.

Many around the world are rejoicing in the fact that a new face will join the royal family and only wish the best for the happy couple. The engagement between Prince Harry, fifth in line to the throne and Meghan Markle have no direct influence on the American society, but have the ability to impact Britain and their allies.
