Quick! If you had a beard, how would you prepare it for the holidays? If you answered “decorate it like a Christmas tree”, then you would be correct. A festive twist on the hipster trend of flower beards (which is exactly what it sounds like -seriously, feel free to look it up), Christmas beards are officially a holiday trend. The original decoration ideas were dubbed “Beard Baubles”.
Created by Mike Kennedy and Pauline Ashford from the UK ad agency Grey London, “Beard Baubles” was the interesting outcome of a search for a “striking image for the agency card”. Currently on the market, “Beard Baubles” have reportedly been very popular. These decked out beards are considered an extension of November’s Movember facial hair movement, and are more than just jolly fun for the holidays.
What is even better than decorating the good old beard in the spirit of Christmas is the fact that all proceeds go to a cause called “Beard Season”, an Australian melanoma charity. The charity calls for men to grow out their facial hair in the fight against melanoma, and encourages its bearded ambassadors to get regular skin checks.
This fun-spirited, positive trend is definitely a creative spin quite different from the typical “ugly sweater” holiday traditions. In fact, feel free to grow your own beard to decorate just in time for Christmas.
