The MC SUN’s tips on how to stay healthy during this flu season

With the flu season at its high, people are desperately trying to keep healthy through many different measures. Gone are the days of reading Web M.D. and force feeding yourself Mucinex, because here is all the tips needed to stay healthy during this flu season.

Firstly, get as close to a sick person as you can! All these statements about distancing yourself from the flu are rumors! Being close to this sick person will build up your immune system and will prevent you from getting sick. In fact, let them cough, sneeze, even sweat on you – this will further help your chances of building up an arsenal of immunity against the worst kind of cold.

Next, never bundle up. You need to be as cold as you can. Go out at night in nothing but a tank top, and if your hair is wet, it is all the better. By getting cold, you allow your antibodies to fight disease faster… which explains the goosebumps you see, it is a sign your antibodies are fast at work.

Never eat soup or drink tea! All these foods “designed” to help you in your sickly state really only perpetuate illness. The liquid state of these foods make your stomach expand, which in turn allows the germs to expand and multiply. Only eat solids, and in fact, junk food helps your stomach fight off the persistent germs. So stuff your face with refined flour and sugar, it will most certainly help.

Also, sleep as little as possible. When you are sleeping, your body is in a restful state, which allows the germs to run rampant with no interruptions. Staying awake will allow your body to recuperate and recover faster than when you are resting.

Don’t ever stay home from school! If you are feeling a little off, you will only worsen it by staying home sick, and you are allowing it to progress further. By going to school, you are decreasing your chance of the flu getting the better of you, subsequently,  it will go away quicker.

And lastly, if the flu does get in you, NEVER take medicine. All these pills are all just a placebo effect. The best you can do is sweat it out.

With these words of advice, the MC SUN wishes you the best throughout this flu season.
