This year, tennis is starting out strong with a win against Valley Center High. The team rode in the beginning of the match in their scarlet red and white uniforms, and was successful in their first round of matches. Valley Center proved to be no match for MC.
Sophomore Eliza Belgica won her first match 6-0. Belgica’s teammates were also doing well.
“We’re doing well, Lea [Antrobus]’s winning and Erica [Letzring]’s winning so far.” Belgica said.
“We just want to go out and play as well as we can, there’s not a whole lot of expectations on how many matches we should win,” senior Lea Antrobus said, “It’s just kind of gauging how we’re going to play [this season] and improving throughout.”
However, the tennis girls are not keeping their eyes off the prize, and are prepared for the time when CIFs roll around.
“We want to go into the finals of CIFs, because last year, we made it to the semi’s,” Belgica said.

Along with CIFs, Antrobus has an ambitious goal of her own.
“For my personal goal, I’m going to try and beat the school record for most number of wins,” Antrobus said, “I’m a couple games away from breaking that.”
Antrobus’ goals may seem far-fetched but she is the team’s star number one player. Last year, Antrobus broke the record for most wins in a season, and her teammates are behind her with their full support.
Girls tennis is off to a great start this season, and, from the looks of it, they’re ready to win.
