Valentine’s Day: It’s more than just chocolate

As January comes to an end, more often than not, each store is lining their shelves with bright pink and red decorations. On TV,   commercials flaunting chocolate, roses, jewelry and romantic movies can be seen taking over the media, all in preparation for Valentine’s Day.
This international celebration marks the passing of yet another year of love and relationships.
While in our day and age, some people have chosen a more cynical view on this day, Valentine’s still represents a more momentous part of our lives than we expect.
For our past, this holiday reminds us of our childhood and the friendships we so easily made. Thinking of this season includes positive memories of getting into the loving spirit that is this holiday. It brings us back to a time where everyone got along for at least long enough to exchange candies and cards.
Although this holiday has become a target for the shopping industry, Valentine’s Day has always represented a time of romance and at one point simplicity.
With age, Valentine’s Day slowly evolves into a time with more romantic meaning. This day out of the year is one of the few where people can express their feelings, no matter how corny, within the norm.
It represents a day of happiness and love whether you are sharing it with friends of loved ones.
This feeling is just as important as any other; especially during the hectic and emotional ride we call our lives. It is important to hold on to this feeling and celebrate it while we can before it’s gone.
