TLC Reunites Thanks to the Fans

One of the most successful American girl groups is on their way back into the limelight. Singer Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas have reunited to bring back TLC. In a post to the fans, the girls express their excitement and gratitude to their fans.
“We owe so much of our success to you. Your loyalty and support throughout the past 20 years motivated us to do our best work. Without you, we wouldn’t have ten top 10 singles and four number one singles. We wouldn’t have won five Grammy awards or sold 65 million records worldwide. Without you, we wouldn’t have become the most successful girl group of all time! Without you there would be no TLC!”
This will be their final album and the girls are looking to the fans to help produce it.. For this last rendezvous, they want to do everything on their own creative terms.
“This album, our FINAL ALBUM, is dedicated to all of you that have stuck with us, always challenging us to do our best. And of course, it’s for the new fans too! We just want to put out great music that touches everyone. That’s it.”
Through Kickstarter, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects, TLC is giving rewards to the highest movie donations. Spanning from pledges of $5 to $7,500 and more, fans can earn anything from an exclusive Kickstarter remix to a photo shoot with TLC. So far the group has 2,400 backers who have pledged $234,536, blowing their $150,000 pledge goal out of the water.
The extra money earned from the album and backers will go to booking music producers, writing sessions, mixing sessions, recording sessions, etc.
So far the project is on track and its looking like we’ll see a new TLC album by Sep. 2015 and although this will be T-Bozz and Chilli’s first duet album without Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes (may she rest in peace) she will always be with the group in spirit.
“This final album will be the first studio album by the two of us. Of course, Lisa’s spirit will always be present in our music. That will never change.”
Left Eye died in a car accident in La Ceiba, Honduras when swerved off the road trying to avoid hitting another vehicle. She was ejected from the car and died several days later due to her injuries.
Although it has been years since their last album, the girls promise to stay true to their sound and singing about real issues and life experiences. This may be their most personable album yet because through Kickstarter they are able to interact directly with the fans and consider their input and desires for the new album.
T-Bozz and Chilli never stopped singing so they figured now is as good a time as ever to make a comeback.
“While major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets, they don’t often give artists complete control of their own music. It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our terms, without any restrictions, with YOU. Plus we are still singing. It’s what we love to do, so WHY NOT?!”
So the way I see it is this album is either going to be amazing or a complete bust, but either way it will be true to TLC. Good music comes from creative freedom so this album has a lot of potential. We’ll see what happens by the end of the year. tlc2
