On Jan. 31, MC girls varsity water polo faced off against La Costa Canyon.

MC girls did not fret going against LCC, as in the previous years held a strong lead against them.

“I was really confident going into the game because of the past wins against them,” junior Joy Park said.

Throughout the game MC girls kept the momentum strong, taking the lead throughout all quarters.

“Overall our team did really well especially the defense” Park said. “Our team was leading throughout the whole game. We beat them by 8 points”.

With the striking win against LCC, MC girls felt proud and felt their hard work paid off.

“The whole team was all very happy with the successful win. Although, I personally was not happy with my performance” Park said.

Dominating the pool against LCC, gave the MC girls a revival of self-assurance.

“I think it’s essential to have games that give us a win because it helps the team boost our mentality and confidence,” senior Mikayla Reina said.

Coming home with the win, MC girls still feel the need for improvements.

“I think sometimes we tend to hold back on our skills and techniques, I hope the team can work on our confidence” Park said. “We could be the greatest team but we hold back”.

With the waterpolo season coming to an end, MC girls hope to use their wins as momentum for the end of the season.

“As the season comes to an end I hope to finish strong and win CIFs” Park said.
