As the end of the trimester nears, the girl’s water polo team brings MC two more wins last week.
Tuesday, the 31st, the team played against San Marcos winning 6-5 and the next day they won again against Hilltop.
“I feel like Tuesday we could’ve done so much better,” freshman Haley Josten said.
Though the water polo team won both games, the girls admit, they could have improved in the game opposing San Marcos.
“It wasn’t our best game and we made a few mistakes but I definitely think we learned from them,”Josten said.
Fortunately Josten was right and the team learned from their errors on Tuesday and played a strong game the next day.
“The game went really well, we won 13-8 and played really well together as a team,” senior Gabby Hutchinson, one of two captains, the other being Mackenzie Mangel said.
Thrilled by their big win Wednesday, the girls are as motivated as ever to continue their hard work at practices and translating their skills to the games.
“We need to be more aware of where the ball is, who has the ball, and who’s open. And I feel like at Wednesday’s game, we definitely demonstrated our capability to work as a team,” Josten said.
Though critical of their performances, the team admits they are still very proud of the improvements they have accomplished this season and they hope to continue all this hard work.
“The season is going really well and since the trimester is almost over, I hope that we can push through and finish strong,” sophomore, Maddie Hansen said.
As the end of the trimester approaches quickly the MC water polo team plans to make the most of the what is left of the season.
“This my favorite season that I have ever been on the team,” said Hutchinson, “We all get along really well and we have a really good group of girls this season that creates a great atmosphere for all of us.”
The girl’s team only has a few more games coming up so MC students should make sure to catch their team on the pool deck before the trimester is over.
