Field Hockey for the win

MC field hockey is off to a great start with a 6-0 win against Otay Ranch, goals scored by Makenna Rodriguez, Eden Villalovas, and Taylor Gabocy. The girls maintained  constant teamwork and  persistence throughout the game.

immensely.

“This year I feel that we have a strong core of seniors who will eventually lead us to succeed in our games, just as we did against Otay.” Knee said “Last year, we had only a few seniors and we lacked leadership, so I feel we are going to be more successful.”

Knee claims that because of the strong leadership on and off the field, she sees the team winning  this season.

“I think the team has a high chance of making it far into CIF’s. I was so impressed with our last game. We worked so well as a team and took several shots.” Knee said. “This year, we are focused on scoring a lot of goals and trying our best to win against the higher ranked teams,”

Leah States, a sophomore and first year player on varsity, is very impressed with the leadership shown by the team captains, all seniors, Regan Downing, Makenna Rodriguez, Lauryn Burke, and Eden  Villalovas.

“I am very happy with the captains. Our game against Otay was so successful because of their leadership and determination. We could not have scored six goals and worked so well as a team without them.” States said.

If you are interested in supporting MC girls  field hockey, their next home game is on Sept. 12 against Mira Mesa High School.
