With a new season comes new difficulties and struggles. However, the MC girls water polo team is more than ready to take on any challenge.

Last Tuesday was the start of what is sure to be an awesome season. Despite a defeat, everyone on the team performed admirably against La Costa Canyon High School. They were guided by the leadership of a new coach, Randy Galza.

Highly experienced, Galza holds great expectations for this season’s aquatic Sundevils.

“First of all, the girls will play year-round,” Galza said.  “They didn’t do that last year but we’re trying our best to catch them up. There is always tremendous potential because of the strong athletic program of the Sundevil community.”

Galza feels positive about the overall team performance on Tuesday’s game.

“I feel that the team is right where they should be,.” Galza said. “Today was a first level gaze at what we’re at and what we need to improve at [on].”

Looking outwards towards the future, Galza remains enthusiastic about the rest of the season.

“On Thursday we’re playing the number two team in the nation ,Los Alamitos High School.” Galza said.  “But I’m very optimistic.”

Galza enjoys working with the team and hopes to continue to help them as they traverse new and more dangerous waters over the new season.

“It’s an honor to be a Sundevil,” Galza said. “I’m very lucky and fortunate to work with wonderful student athletes. Go Sundevils!”
