The Sundevil football team is known for their teamwork, dedication, and excellence. Their games begin with the team running onto the field carrying a sign reading; family, because that is what they consider themselves.
This week, the devils bounced back from last weeks’ shattering loss to Olympian by beating Escondido 33-6 this game.
Although Escondido began with a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, junior Lucas Johnson, starting QB, scored a 20 yd. touchdown. In the third quarter, MC led 13-6.
“There’s not just one person making all the touchdowns, it’s a team effort.” Johnson said of the team dynamic.
Still in the third quarter, senior Derek Williams scored a touchdown, creating a 20-6 lead, making MC almost untouchable by Escondido. Continuing their lead, senior Jaylen Jones scored two rushing touchdowns, and had twenty carries throughout the game.

“We just go out there and play as a team, we took practice more seriously this time and we knew that we needed to win.” Johnson said.
As the last second disappeared, and MC won, the team immediately got into a huddle, cheering, and the red sea exploded with excitement.
