The girls golf team wraps up their season

The girls’ golf team ended their season with a positive attitude, not letting losses devastate their spirits.

“I would say our season ended really well,” senior Breanna Cundari said. “Although we didn’t win any matches, we as a team definitely had the most fun!”

The team unfortunately did not qualify for CIF’s, but they still played with a great amount of skill and a positive attitude.

“Our team was very positive and got along really well,” sophomore and captain Savanah Wallace said. “We got the opportunity to play on beautiful courses and it was great to make new friends.”

The team all had their favorite moments out on the course, and some very difficult shots.

“My favorite part was seeing the girls get excited after hitting a great shot and watching them try really hard in hitting a difficult shot out of the rough,” coach Jim Greci said.

The graduating seniors Breanna Cundari, Symone Beard, Jamie Arnold, Emily Martin, Sophia Dallke and Bailee Byers all finished their final season with strength and pride.

“We were all so proud of each other and are sad that this was the seniors last season,” Cundari said.

“The seniors enjoyed all their matches and were happy to receive flowers at the end of our last match,” Greci said.

Freshmen players are very happy with the season and hope to continue throughout their high school careers.

“I enjoyed being on the golf team this year,” freshman Alyssa Cundari said. “It was nice getting to be on a team and have a fun rivalry with my sister, and I definitely want to continue with the sport next year.”

The team’s coach finished off his first year coaching at MC proud of his team and grateful that he had the opportunity to coach.

“I was very honored and appreciative to MCHS athletics to be chosen as the coach and was very lucky to be able to coach girls that enjoyed learning and playing the game of golf,” Greci said. “I had a fantastic first year as a Sundevil coach, especially because of the support from Mrs. Uribe and Coach Wright.”

The team is thrilled that their teammates have turned into friends.

“I truly am sad that the golf season is over,” senior Emily Martin said. “However I enjoyed every second of it and was very happy with the memories and friends made.”

Even though not a lot of matches were won, the team still felt the season was an accomplishment.

“Our season was a complete success due to the excellent camaraderie and positive attitude of our players,” Greci said. “They demonstrated excellent golf etiquette on the course to our opponent, and they were helpful to one another during their matches. But most importantly they knew that golf is meant to be fun and they strived to have an enjoyable time while they represented Mt. Carmel in Girls’ Golf.  They have achieved victory with honor.”
