Plants vs. Zombies 2 Review B+

plants-vs-zombies-2-reviewI think everyone can remember a few years back when there was so much hype over the game Plants vs. Zombies.  I mean, it was an awesome game, who would ever think of having plants go against zombies? Well, PopCap Games has recently released a Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time for iPhone, and it’s absolutely free.

For those who haven’t played the first game, the goal is to stop zombies from reaching your house (and eating your brains) by placing a variety of different offensive and defensive plants on the field in front of your house.

In PvZ 2, the player travels back in time with neighbor Crazy Dave and his talking time machine, Penny.  The player is first brought back to Ancient Egypt and can unlock other places to time travel to, such as a Wild West and Pirate Era.

Though the game can get a bit repetitive at times, I feel that it’s a great app to pass the time when one is bored.  The graphics are vibrant and colorful, and I enjoyed the creativity put into the new types of plants such as “Bonk Choy”, which punches its victims. It’s definitely a good sequel to the original Plants vs. Zombies, though the first one is a classic that just shines by itself (similar to Temple Run) and can’t really be compared to PvZ 2.

Overall, I feel people would enjoy this game for the most part, with its vivid graphics and entertaining premise of plants beating up zombies. It’s a fun app that’s free, and the only thing I could imagine a person losing is time spent playing this game.
