MC offers after-school Arabic 101 class

New opportunities are available as Sundevils enter the 2016-2017 year. Math teacher Noha Bushra offered MC’s first Arabic course, a 5.5 class offered after school. According to its description, the course is “for students who wish to gain introductory knowledge about the Arabic language. This course may also benefit Arabic speakers as it will enhance their reading and writing abilities.” Currently, the class has low enrollment and needs more students to sign up in order for the class to proceed. Those interested are to stop by room N-9 and speak to Ms. Bushra to enroll.

“The idea was to introduce a new language to campus because there are a lot of Arabic speakers,” Bushra said. “I just felt that if non-Arabic speakers could learn it too,  we could create a community where all the languages are accepted, […] and that it’s a fun thing to learn Arabic. […] It’s especially nice for Arabic speakers who want their friends to know the language. […] It’s a good thing to know multiple languages.”

Though the course may not proceed as a 5.5 class as a result of low enrollment, Bushra is considering making the class a club instead, where any students could join if interested during lunch.
