Review: Las Ranas Mexico City Cuisine A+

ranas-logo-smallFor Mexican food-enthusiasts such as myself, it can sometimes be hard to find 100% authentic Mexican food. Yes there are legit Mexican food places such as Cotijas, Rodrigos, and Albertos that deliver that real Mexican taste. But when I want more than a California burrito or carneasada fries, it gets a little difficult. Enter Las Ranas.

Based in Spring Valley, Las Ranas(Spanish for the frogs) is one of the few places that I have found on this side of the border that fully takes care of my Mexican food appetite.

The family-owned and operated restaurant serves authentic Mexican breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No matter what time of the day that you drop by, you will have a multitude of delicious meals ready to challenge your taste-buds.

When entering Las Ranas you will always be greeted by whoever’s there, usually the owner. Although not huge, the restaurant is anything but cramped, and even has a few tables outside. The restaurant is also incredibly well taken care-of and is spotless, and with vibrant colors painted on the walls and art depicting Mexico, Las Ranas is really eye-appealing. All this combined creates a friendly atmosphere where I guarantee you will feel comfortable and happy.

Now, for the best thing about Las Ranas, the food! As I have said before, whatever type of meal you order, it will be amazing. The breakfast menu features a wide range of egg based meals such as chilaquiles, which is a delicacy consisting of eggs, hot salsa, and other basic Mexican condiments.

If you go into Las Ranas anytime after morning you will have a plethora of varieties and options. This is where it gets hard, because they have multiple options for each of the following: tacos, chicken, beef, pork, seafood, enchiladas, soups, salads, and more. Trust me that no matter your preferences in food or tastes, there will be several meals that will satisfy you to happiness.

For those of you that love burritos, I’m glad to say that Las Ranas has all kinds of burritos whether breakfast, California, seafood or others.

If I have not made myself clear by this time, Las Ranas is truly an amazing and tasty restaurant to fill your stomachs up. A word of caution though, for those of you who are not accustomed to hot or spicy food, I would ask your server for help on the spiciness of different dishes.

The one con for Las Ranas, is that for us that live in PQ or the surrounding area, Las Ranas is not the closest destination. Fortunately, after eating a meal there, you will pardon the long drive.

So remember, if you want a good Mexican food place go to Las Ranas at 9683 Campo Road, Ste. ‘A’ Spring Valley, CA 91977 for a delicious Mexican cuisine.
